In this release
- Connect your own Stripe account and switch on Collect payment through Stripe on a proposal.
- The client accepts on the link, clicks Accept and pay and pays on a Stripe payment page, monthly or upfront.
- Monthly billing runs on the client's card until the engagement's term ends.
- The Client link tab shows the payment status, what was paid and the fees Stripe kept; your team is emailed when the client pays and if a charge fails.
- Money goes to your Stripe account and Qoren takes no cut. Stripe's fees count as a cost in your margin.
The last Proposals release turned a proposal into a link your client can accept. Now the same link takes payment: the client accepts and pays by card in one step, through your own Stripe account. The setup is in the Proposals docs, and the launch post walks through it for an agency.
Set it up once, then per proposal
- Open a proposal, click the Client link tab and, under Payment, click Connect Stripe. Sign in to your Stripe account or create one. Only the account owner can connect or disconnect it, and one Stripe account serves all your proposals.
- On the Pricing tab, switch on Collect payment through Stripe under Collecting payment for each proposal the client should pay on the link.
- Send or update the client link as usual.
What the client sees
The client clicks Accept proposal on the link, types their name and clicks Accept and pay, which goes straight to a Stripe payment page on your Stripe account.
- Paying monthly, the first charge is the setup fee and any one-time add-on prices plus the first month. Stripe then charges the card each month until the engagement's term ends, or until it is cancelled for a month-to-month engagement.
- Paying upfront, when the proposal has a paid upfront offer, the client pays the prepaid months at your discount in one payment, plus the setup fee and any one-time add-on prices when the offer does not include them. When the prepaid months are fewer than the term, or the engagement is month to month, the client is told before accepting that their card is then charged the monthly fee, and Stripe does so on the same card.
A client who closes the payment page can come back to the link and click Continue to payment.
What you see
Under Payment on the Client link tab: whether the payment is waiting, paid, billing monthly, failed or ended, what the client has paid so far, the fees Stripe kept, and Open in Stripe for the customer in your Stripe dashboard. Everyone in your account who can edit proposals gets an email when the client accepts, when their first payment goes through, when a charge fails and when monthly billing ends.
With payment switched on, Stripe's fees count as your cost on the Pricing tab, so profit and margin stay honest. They start at Stripe's standard card rates for the proposal's currency, and you can change them. The client never sees them.
Limits
- A price quoted as a range cannot be charged by card. That client accepts without paying, and you settle the price with them.
- Refunds, receipts and tax are handled in your Stripe dashboard. Qoren does not send invoices or collect signatures.
- Payment works for proposals in USD and EUR.
- Disconnecting Stripe stops clients paying on their links; subscriptions already running keep charging in your Stripe.
Questions about this release
Does Qoren take a cut of what my client pays on a proposal?
No. Your client pays through your own Stripe account, Stripe pays it out to you on your usual schedule, and you pay only Stripe's own fees.
Can a client pay a proposal quoted as a price range?
No. A card is charged one amount, so a range cannot be paid on the link. The client accepts as usual and you settle the price with them.
Who handles refunds, receipts and tax?
You do, in your Stripe dashboard. Qoren does not send invoices or collect signatures.
