The best Shopify Stocky alternatives after the shutdown

Stocky was Shopify's own inventory app: it tracked stock, forecast what you would need, suggested what to order, and ran stock counts and transfers. Shopify's help page says Stocky is no longer available after August 31, 2026, and it can no longer be installed from the Shopify App Store. So the question is not whether to replace it but with what. Here is a sourced shortlist, with Qoren as one honest option for part of the job.

What is the best Shopify Stocky alternative?

It depends on which half of Stocky you used. For purchase orders, suppliers and receiving without a new app, Shopify's own inventory features, which is where Shopify points Stocky users. For forecasting and purchase orders in one app, Prediko. For forecasting, replenishment and bundles billed through Shopify, Fabrikatör. For a free tier and a low-priced forecasting plan inside the Shopify admin, Assisty. For an agent that projects each SKU's stockout date from real sales and drafts the supplier reorder inside its lead time for you to approve, Qoren, which covers reorder timing only.

What happened to Stocky, and what it did

Shopify's help page for Stocky reads: "The Stocky app will no longer be available after August 31st, 2026." It also says Stocky can no longer be installed from the Shopify App Store, and it recommends moving to Shopify's inventory management features. Stocky covered two jobs: planning (tracking inventory levels, forecasting what you need, suggesting which products to order) and adjustments (inventory counts and inventory transfers).

  • Shopify's admin now has purchase orders of its own: you record what you order from a supplier, keep suppliers with their contact details, payment terms and currencies, and receive the stock through an inventory transfer with cost adjustments.
  • Shopify's purchase order help page does not describe forecasting or reorder suggestions, so the planning half of Stocky is the part you need to replace with an app.
  • Cogsy, another inventory planning app Stocky users considered, is gone too: its site now says Cogsy has been discontinued and is no longer available.

What to look for in a Stocky replacement

Split the job the way Stocky did, then decide which half you need an app for.

  • Purchase orders, suppliers and receiving: Shopify's own admin now covers these, so check it first before you pay for an app that duplicates them.
  • Forecasting: whether the tool projects demand from real sales velocity and seasonality, rather than a fixed low stock threshold per product.
  • Reorder timing: whether it warns you inside each supplier's lead time, not on the day a product sells out.
  • Stock counts and transfers between locations: Stocky did both, and only some replacements do.

The forecasting and purchasing apps

If you used Stocky to forecast and to decide what to order, these three apps do that job, at different prices and depths, and two of them add purchase orders on top.

  • Prediko: $49 a month for stores under $100k in sales over the last 12 months, with prices rising by sales band, a 14-day trial and two months free on annual plans. It includes unlimited users, SKUs and purchase orders, AI revenue and inventory forecasting, buying alerts, multi-store and multi-location support and full API access. Raw materials forecasting and bills of materials are a $20 a month add-on.
  • Fabrikatör: its pricing table shows Starter at $79 a month, or $950 a year, for stores with up to $500K in annual revenue, with a 14-day trial and a 30-day refund policy, billed through Shopify. The FAQ on the same page lists $99 a month under $50K in monthly sales, so confirm the price for your store before you subscribe. It covers demand forecasting, stock replenishment, bundle planning and backorders, with unlimited SKUs and users.
  • Assisty: a Shopify app with a free Basic plan for multi-location tracking and low stock reports. Professional, at $19 a month, adds seasonal demand prediction, reordering from forecasts and alerts before a stockout. Replenishment, at $39 a month, adds purchase orders, transfer suggestions and stock takes. Prices are in USD, billed every 30 days, and the listing shows a 4.8 rating from 359 reviews.

Where Qoren fits, and where it does not

Qoren is not an inventory app, and it replaces only the reorder timing part of Stocky. It runs agents, and one of its templates is a stock watchdog. Every morning at 06:00 it computes each SKU's sales velocity, projects the date it will run out using the supplier lead times, minimum orders, safety buffers and seasonality notes you give it, and, when that date falls inside the reorder window, drafts the supplier email with the quantity worked out in the open: daily sales times lead time, plus buffer, minus stock on hand, raised to the supplier's minimum. Every Monday it checks your suppliers' catalog pages and reports real price changes and which reorders they affect.

  • What it does well: reorder dates from real sales rather than a fixed threshold, seasonal surges ordered weeks ahead, the maths shown in every draft so you can check it in seconds, one open reorder per SKU so you are never nagged twice, and silence on days nothing needs ordering. With a Shopify webhook set up, each stock change re-projects that one SKU instead of waiting for the morning.
  • What Stocky and the apps above do better: suggested orders on a planning screen you can browse, stock counts and transfers, purchase orders inside the app (Prediko, Assisty), multi-location planning, and bundles or bills of materials.
  • What Qoren does not offer: no purchase orders, no receiving, no stocktakes, no transfers and no planning interface. It drafts the reorder email and stops: it never places an order or emails a supplier. You commit the purchase order yourself, for example in Shopify's own purchase orders.
  • The Shopify connection is basic: the template reads stock and orders through an Admin API access token and your store address that you paste in as keys, and there is no Qoren app in the Shopify App Store. Qoren's managed Shopify connection, which signs in with your store's own app and refreshes access itself, is in early access and turned on account by account. A Google Sheet of stock and sales works as the source instead.
  • Setup is real work: you fill in each SKU's supplier, lead time, minimum order and buffer with the agent in its first conversation, and the numbers are only as good as those lead times. Model usage is billed on top of the plan. For an agency running several stores, each client gets its own agent.

Frequently asked questions

Is Shopify Stocky being discontinued?

Yes. Shopify's help page says the Stocky app will no longer be available after August 31, 2026, that it can no longer be installed from the Shopify App Store, and that Stocky users should move to Shopify's inventory management features.

What replaces Stocky in Shopify?

Shopify points Stocky users to its own inventory management features, which now include purchase orders, suppliers and receiving stock through an inventory transfer. Shopify's purchase order page does not describe forecasting, so most stores add an app such as Prediko, Fabrikatör or Assisty for that, or an agent like Qoren's stock watchdog for reorder timing.

Is there a free Stocky alternative?

Shopify's own purchase orders are built into the Shopify admin, and Assisty has a free Basic plan for multi-location tracking and low stock reports, according to its App Store listing. Forecasting costs extra in every app here: Assisty from $19 a month, Prediko from $49 and Fabrikatör from $79.

Can Qoren create purchase orders in Shopify?

No. Qoren's stock watchdog projects stockout dates, drafts the reorder email to your supplier with the quantity maths shown, and watches supplier prices. It never places an order, emails a supplier, creates a purchase order, receives stock or runs a stocktake. You raise the purchase order yourself, for example in Shopify's admin.

How is Qoren different from Stocky?

Stocky was a full inventory app inside Shopify, with forecasting, suggested orders, stock counts and transfers. Qoren runs an agent you own that checks every SKU each morning, warns you inside each supplier's lead time with the reorder already drafted, and reports supplier price changes every Monday. It has no planning screen and handles no purchase orders, receiving or stocktakes.
