The best Chaser alternatives for chasing unpaid invoices

Chaser is credit control software: it sends payment reminders by email and SMS, makes automated calls, runs a payer portal and connects to more than 30 accounting systems. You usually look for an alternative for reasons of fit: a price that suits a small business, late fees and interest posted for you, credit checks bundled in, or reminders you approve one by one rather than a workflow that sends on its own. Here is a sourced shortlist, with Qoren as one honest option.

  • Chaser connects to more than 30 accounting systems, including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite and SAP.

Why you might look for a Chaser alternative

Chaser is a complete credit control platform, and for a finance team chasing hundreds of accounts it earns its price. The reasons to compare are mostly about size and control.

  • The entry plan is $259 a month billed monthly, which is a lot for a sole trader or a small agency with a dozen open invoices.
  • Compact is capped at 4 users and 4 automated workflows; unlimited workflows start on Core at $779 a month.
  • You want late fees and interest posted to the invoice automatically, which a smaller tool does for less.
  • You would rather read every reminder before it goes out than trust a workflow to send on its own, because some clients are worth more than one invoice.

The small business alternatives

If what you use Chaser for is sending the right reminder at the right time, these three do the same job for a smaller monthly bill.

  • InvoiceSherpa: Sole Proprietor is $49 a month, or $41 billed annually, for up to 100 open invoices; Small Business is $99 a month for up to 500. Every plan includes unlimited email and SMS reminders, a branded self-service portal, autopay, late fees and automated reconciliation with QuickBooks Online, Xero and Clio. There is a 14-day trial with no card, and a 1% transaction fee on paid invoices unless you take payments through its partner.
  • Paidnice: Essentials is $69 a month, or £49, for 150 invoices and 600 emails a month and up to 2 team members, billed monthly with no contract. It sends email and SMS reminders and adds late fees, interest, prompt payment discounts and automated statements inside Xero and QuickBooks Online, and it also connects Stripe. The first 20 actions are free; payment plans start on Pro, from $99 a month, and SMS costs $0.10 a message.
  • Satago: a UK credit control tool for Xero, QuickBooks and Sage. Basic is £45 a month, or £450 a year, for 25 credit reports and 100 email reminders a month; Premium is £80 a month for unlimited email reminders, 100 SMS a month and card and Buy Now Pay Later payments. Satago also offers invoice finance with advance rates of up to 90%.

The finance team alternative

If you are moving away from Chaser because you have outgrown it rather than because it costs too much, one platform sits above it.

  • Kolleno: BusinessPay is €650 per user per month, or €545 billed annually, for businesses with turnover above €1 million. It includes Xero, QuickBooks and Sage Intacct integrations, a customisable payment portal, payment links, a customer dashboard and collections inbox management. Business Plus, at €1,245 per user per month, adds auto-reconciliation, workflow automation and reporting.

Where Qoren fits, and where it does not

Qoren is not credit control software. It runs agents, and one of its templates is an invoice chaser. Every weekday at 09:00 it pulls your open invoices from Stripe, QuickBooks, Xero or a Google Sheet, finds the ones due soon, due today or overdue, and drafts the next reminder for each in the tone your cadence sets: a friendly heads-up two days before the due date, polite on the day, firmer at 7 and 14 days, and a proposed call at 30. The drafts arrive ranked by amount and days overdue. At 18:00 it reconciles what came in, stops chasing anything paid, notes partial payments, and tells you what was collected and what is still outstanding by age.

  • What it does well: a cadence and tone you write yourself, a never-chase list of clients it surfaces to you instead, a smallest amount worth chasing, paid Stripe invoices settled the moment they are paid so a pending reminder is withdrawn, and every reminder restating the amount and the simplest way to pay.
  • What Chaser does better: reminders that send on their own schedule, SMS, automated calls, a payer portal, payment plans, credit monitoring, debtor risk scoring, debt collection, multi-entity support and more than 30 accounting integrations.
  • What Qoren does not offer: it drafts only, and you approve each reminder before it goes out, so nothing reaches a client while you are away. It sends no SMS and makes no calls, has no payment portal, posts no late fees or interest, runs no credit checks and sends no statements. QuickBooks and Xero connect through an access token you paste in as a key, not a one-click sign-in, and the agent reads from them; it never writes to your ledger.
  • Setup is real work: you set your cadence, tone and exceptions with the agent in its first conversation, a read-only Stripe key enables the paid and overdue triggers, and Gmail lets approved reminders go out from your own address. Model usage is billed on top of the plan. For an agency or a bookkeeper, each client gets its own agent with its own collections policy.

How to choose

Start from what you want to change about your current setup, not from a feature list, and check each vendor's pricing page on the day you decide.

  • Late fees, interest and statements applied in Xero or QuickBooks: Paidnice.
  • Credit reports and invoice finance next to your reminders, in the UK: Satago.
  • Payments, reconciliation and collections for a finance team: Kolleno.
  • Every reminder drafted for you to read and approve, next to the other agents you run per client: Qoren.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Chaser alternative?

There is no single winner. InvoiceSherpa is the closest like-for-like for a small business, Paidnice adds late fees and interest inside Xero and QuickBooks, Satago pairs reminders with credit reports and invoice finance, Kolleno suits a mid-market finance team, and Qoren gives you an agent that drafts every reminder for your approval.

Is there a cheaper Chaser alternative?

Yes. According to each vendor's pricing page, InvoiceSherpa starts at $49 a month, Paidnice at $69 a month and Satago at £45 a month, against $259 or £199 a month for Chaser's Compact plan billed monthly.

Which Chaser alternatives work with Xero and QuickBooks?

InvoiceSherpa, Paidnice, Satago and Kolleno all list both Xero and QuickBooks, and Satago adds Sage. Qoren's invoice chaser reads open invoices from QuickBooks or Xero through an access token you paste in, or from Stripe or a Google Sheet, and never writes back to your ledger.

Can a Chaser alternative send SMS reminders or make calls?

InvoiceSherpa includes SMS on every plan, Paidnice charges per SMS and Satago includes SMS from Premium. Automated calls are a Chaser feature none of the small business options here list. Qoren's invoice chaser sends no SMS and makes no calls: it drafts email reminders for you to approve.

How is Qoren different from Chaser?

Chaser is credit control software that sends reminders on its own schedule by email, SMS and automated calls, with a payer portal and credit monitoring. Qoren runs an agent you own that sweeps what you are owed every weekday, drafts each reminder in the tone your cadence sets, and waits for your approval before anything goes out. It has no portal, no SMS, no calls and no late fee posting.
