Definition
An agent template is a pre-built agent definition with a job, a schedule, and a set of tools already configured, so deploying it produces a working agent immediately.
In practice
A template is the difference between a blank prompt and a running agent. Rather than deciding a persona, a task list, a cadence, and a tool set from nothing, you start from a configuration that already produces a specific deliverable, such as a morning brief or an inbox triaged every thirty minutes, and then adjust it in plain English. The reason this matters is that the most common way a first agent fails is never launching: the design grows for a week and nothing ships. A template sets the bar low enough that something runs today and teaches you more than the planning would have.
