It is the gap between building an agent, which takes an afternoon, and running one, which is a standing commitment. The work is small each time and constant, which is why it is under-discussed: a restart here, an expired key there, a spend surprise once a quarter. The common mistake is assuming a VPS removes it. Moving off a laptop solves exactly one item, the machine going to sleep, and adds a server to patch. Everything else follows the agent: no alerting when it stops, no spend cap, and credentials still rotated by hand.
